The Thin Impact Barrier was originally developed as a knee pad for skaters. Unlike other knee pads that only protect against top impact, this pad covers the entire knee protecting it from knee-to-knee and side impact while not inhibiting any range of motion! We later found that this is the perfect shape for not only knees but hips as well so we developed a thicker version to protect against impact on larger areas such as hip, chest, shoulders, back, etc.

Do not be misled by the word “thin”. Although only 3/16” thick, these pads still provide unmatched protection and are recommended to be used on the knees versus the thick which might slightly inhibit range of motion.
The following are circumference measurements taken two (2) inches above the kneecap. They should be used as guidelines for selecting the proper size knee pad.
- Large: 17″ +
- Medium: 14″ to 16.5″
- Small: 11″ to 13.5″
The thick version is most commonly used for hip pads. Our smaller, more petite customers sometimes choose to use the thin instead for a lighter, more low-profile protection. Hip pads can be held in place with a pair of our compression shorts.
Sizing: Your hip pad size should correlate with your kneepad size.
Large: 7 1/8″ x 91/8″
Medium: 6 3/8″ x 8 1/8″
Small: 5 3/4″ x 7 1/8″
